Tata Power Share Price in Focus; Commissions 100 MW Solar Project in Tamil Nadu

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned a 100 MW Group Captive Solar Project at Vellalankottai and Nalandhula villages in Kayathar, Tamil Nadu.
With the new project, TPREL's utility portfolio has grown to 12.3 GW, while its operational capacity has crossed 7 GW. The operational capacity includes more than 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind assets.
Power to Tata Group Companies
The electricity generated from the project will be supplied to three Tata Group companies. TP Solar will receive 40.625 MW, Tata Electronics will receive 53.125 MW and Tata Realty and Infrastructure will receive 6.25 MW.
The project is expected to generate around 240.63 million units of electricity every year and help reduce around 1.5 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
5.3 GW More Projects in the Pipeline
TPREL has another 5.3 GW of renewable energy projects under development. This includes 2.2 GW of solar projects and 3.1 GW of wind projects, which are planned to be commissioned over the next 6 to 24 months.
New Solar Technology Used
The project also uses Flexible Terrain Compatible (FTC) Single Axis Tracker technology, which is being deployed for the first time in a Tata project. It has 2,61,660 Mono PERC bifacial solar modules.

As of August 31, 2026, Tata Power shares closed at around ₹347.00, down 1.38% from the previous trading session.
Conclusion
The new 100 MW project takes Tata Power Renewables past the 7 GW operational capacity mark. With another 5.3 GW of projects already under development, the company is continuing to expand its renewable energy business.
