Mahindra & Mahindra Appoints Rohit Thakur as Group CHRO as Ruzbeh Irani to Retire in April 2026

Mahindra & Mahindra has announced a senior leadership transition within its human resources function, marking the culmination of a long tenure and the start of a new phase for the group’s people strategy.
Leadership Transition and Timing
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited said that Ruzbeh Irani, President, Group Human Resources and a member of the Mahindra Group Executive Board, will retire at the close of business on April 1, 2026.
Irani has spent more than 19 years with the group and has played a central role in shaping its HR framework over nearly 2 decades. The company acknowledged his contribution, noting his long-standing association and impact across the organisation.
New Appointment and Background
Rohit Thakur will take over as Group Chief Human Resources Officer from April 2, 2026. Thakur currently serves as CHRO for the Auto and Farm Sector within the Mahindra Group.
His previous experience includes leading HR functions at Accenture India, where he oversaw HR services for around 200,000 employees, and at Microsoft India, where he worked on talent and cultural transformation initiatives.
He has also held HR leadership roles at GE across multiple sectors in India and the United States, and has worked with startups such as LEAD School and Paytm. Thakur holds a commerce degree from SRCC Delhi and an MBA in HR from XLRI Jamshedpur.

As of 09 January 2026, at 3:30 PM, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited share price closed at ₹3,679 per share, reflecting a decline of 1.21% from the previous closing price. Over the past month, the stock has gained by 1.19%.
