Jio Platforms to Focus on AI, Cloud and Satellite Connectivity Over Next 10 Years: MD Akash Ambani

Jio Platforms is to focus on artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, connected devices and satellite connectivity over the next decade, Managing Director Akash Ambani said on October 28, 2026, as per news reports.
He announced the plans at the company’s stock market listing ceremony in Mumbai. Ambani said Jio’s first decade was spent expanding access to mobile data, bringing hundreds of millions of Indians online.
Platforms Serve More Than 540 Million Customers
Jio’s platforms currently serve more than 540 million customers, Ambani said. He added that the company had built its own technology capabilities because existing platforms were not designed for India’s scale.
The company plans to bring connectivity, computing, and intelligence together across the country, including in different regions and languages. Ambani said Jio would continue to provide digital infrastructure and services at affordable prices.
He also said the company would maintain global standards in technology, services, and execution. Its platforms, he added, were developed in India to meet the country’s requirements.
Long-Term Commitments of Jio Platforms
Addressing shareholders, Ambani said the listing was the beginning of a new phase for Jio. He said the company would maintain transparency and accountability and work to protect and grow shareholder wealth over time.
He also referred to Reliance Industries’ nearly five decades of wealth creation and said Jio would seek to continue that legacy. The company’s next decade will focus on expanding its work in AI, cloud computing, connected devices, and satellite connectivity, alongside its existing digital services.
Jio Platforms Shares List at ₹1,358
Jio Platforms shares began trading at ₹1,358 on both the BSE and NSE, against the issue price of ₹1,119. The listing price was 21.36% higher than the issue price.
Conclusion
The company’s next phase will focus on expanding its technology offerings beyond mobile data. Jio Platforms has set a target of making emerging technologies accessible to more Indians.
