On Friday, September 18, 2026, the NIFTY50 index opened at 23,334.70 and went on to register an intraday high of 23,389.15. The index managed to hold its ground throughout the session, hitting an intraday low of 23,286.60 before closing at 23,346.40, up by 75.80 points or 0.33%. 

Advance Decline Ratio of NIFTY50 on September 18, 2026 

The advance-decline ratio for the NIFTY50 index leaned toward the bulls, with 26 constituents out of the 50 ending the session in the green, while 24 closed in negative territory and 0 remained unchanged.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (ADANIPORTS) emerged as the top gainer on September 18, 2026, with its share price rising 4.93% to ₹1,824.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 41,45,831 shares. 

Adani Enterprises Limited (ADANIENT) ranked second among the top gainers, with its share price advancing 3.31% to ₹3,020.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 16,27,929 shares. 

Bharti Airtel Limited (BHARTIARTL) was the third top gainer, with its share price gaining 3.12% to ₹1,893.30 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,41,67,206 shares. 

Top Losers on September 18, 2026 

Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) ended lower by 3.88% at ₹2,105.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 68,72,536 shares. 

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) share price declined 3.40% to ₹303.80 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,55,44,306 shares. 

SBI Life Insurance Company Limited (SBILIFE) shares fell 2.03% to ₹1,731.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 6,56,910 shares.

Conclusion 

The NIFTY50 index closed higher by 0.33% at 23,346.40. The market breadth remained positive with a supportive advance-decline setup as 26 index constituents closed up. ADANIPORTS, Adani Enterprises, and BHARTIARTL emerged as the top gainers, while TCS, TMPV, and SBILIFE were among the top losers on September 18, 2026.
