On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the NIFTY50 index opened at 23,576.15 and went on to register an intraday high of 23,592.85. The index remained under heavy pressure throughout the session, hitting an intraday low of 23,118.60 before closing at 23,118.60, down by 279.50 points or 1.19%.

The advance-decline ratio for the NIFTY50 index leaned heavily toward the bears, with 10 constituents out of the 50 ending the session in the green, while 40 closed in negative territory and 0 remained unchanged.

HCL Technologies Limited (HCLTECH) emerged as the top gainer on September 15, 2026, with its share price rising 3.95% to ₹1,253.70 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 43,25,527 shares. 

Infosys Limited (INFY) ranked second among the top gainers, with its share price advancing 3.79% to ₹1,077.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,42,81,261 shares. 

Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS) was the third top gainer, with its share price gaining 2.28% to ₹2,251.00 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 52,02,932 shares. 

Top Losers on September 15, 2026 

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) ended lower by 5.30% at ₹382.90 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 1,61,48,580 shares. 

Shriram Finance Limited (SHRIRAMFIN) share price declined 4.74% to ₹979.80 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 56,56,773 shares. 

Adani Enterprises Limited (ADANIENT) shares fell 4.29% to ₹2,928.60 per share on the NSE. The total traded volume on the NSE stood at 17,60,565 shares.

Conclusion 

The NIFTY50 index closed lower by 1.19% at 23,118.60. The market breadth remained weak with a significantly negative advance-decline setup as 40 index constituents closed down. HCLTECH, INFY, and TCS emerged as the top gainers, while BEL, SHRIRAMFIN, and ADANIENT were among the top losers on September 15, 2026.
