Nifty Financial Services Index Slips Below 25,300 Mark in Intraday Trade on September 15, 2026

Nifty Financial Services dipped below the 25,300 mark during midday trade. The index is trading in the red amid negative market breadth, with large-cap losers outnumbering gainers.

The Nifty Financial Services Index (FINNIFTY) opened the September 15, 2026, session with a positive bias and registered an intraday high of 25,729.45 soon after opening. The index later touched an intraday low of 25,231.60.

The Nifty Financial Services opened above its previous close at the 25,682.70 level and registered an intraday high of 25,729.45.  

As the session progressed, continuous selling pressure emerged, dragging the index down by over 300 points from its previous close to touch an intraday low of 25,231.60.  

At 1:34 PM, the index was trading at 25,243.65, down by 301.75 points or 1.18% on September 15, 2026.

The market breadth of Nifty Financial Services remained exceptionally weak during the afternoon session on September 15, 2026, as buying interest was highly selective, leaving only 2 constituents in the green, while key heavyweights across the banking and NBFC sectors faced notable selling pressure and the remaining 18 stocks traded in the red. 

Top Gainers and Losers of Nifty Financial Services Index on September 15, 2026 

The market index recorded mixed movements across its major constituents during the session. Among the gainers, HDFC Bank (HDFCBANK) led the positive traction with a Last Traded Price (LTP) of 718.10, gaining 9.85 points (+1.39%). It was followed by REC Limited (RECLTD), which rose by 0.60 points (+0.19%) to an LTP of 313.30. 

Conversely, severe selling pressure was observed among the top losers.  

SBI Cards and Payment Services (SBICARD) dropped the sharpest in percentage terms, falling by 28.00 points (-4.27%) to an LTP of 627.20.  

Shriram Finance (SHRIRAMFIN) also faced notable corrections, shedding 36.50 points (-3.55%) to reach an LTP of 992.10.  

LIC Housing Finance (LICHSGFIN) lost value, decreasing by 13.95 points (-2.48%) to trade at an LTP of 548.95, while Cholamandalam Investment and Finance (CHOLAFIN) slid by 44.20 points (-2.39%) to cross an LTP of 1,801.70.

Conclusion 

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the Nifty Financial Services traded with notable losses of 1.18% by afternoon. Despite minor holding attempts by top financial heavyweights like HDFC Bank and REC, the overall financial market sentiment remained weak, heavily weighted down by top credit card, NBFC, and housing finance constituents.
