UP Government Targets ₹1 Trillion Defence Manufacturing Investments, Plans Defence and FDI Conclave 2026

The Uttar Pradesh government is working towards increasing defence manufacturing investments in the state to nearly ₹1 trillion, as per news reports.
As part of this effort, it plans to organise the Uttar Pradesh Defence and FDI Conclave 2026, aimed at attracting participation from domestic and international defence and aerospace companies.
Defence Corridor Has Received ₹35,000 Crore in Proposals
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) has so far attracted defence and aerospace investment proposals worth ₹35,000 crore, with several projects already operational.
The corridor spans 6 nodes comprising Kanpur, Lucknow, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Aligarh and Agra. Among these, Kanpur has proposals worth ₹13,000 crore, followed by Jhansi at ₹11,700 crore, Lucknow at ₹4,850 crore, Aligarh at ₹4,500 crore, Chitrakoot at ₹900 crore and Agra at ₹600 crore.
Conclave to Bring Together Industry Participants
The proposed Uttar Pradesh Defence and FDI Conclave 2026 is intended to facilitate engagement among defence manufacturers, aerospace companies, research organisations, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and government agencies.
According to the report, invitations are expected to be extended to organisations including HAL, BEL, BEML, the Tata Group, the Adani Group, Boeing, Airbus and Lockheed Martin.
Corridor Forms Part of Broader Development Plan
The Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor is being promoted by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) and forms part of the state's $1 trillion economy plan.
Of the nearly 2,040 hectares acquired for the corridor, around 978 hectares have already been allotted to industries.
Within the corridor, Kanpur has developed projects related to ballistic materials and specialised defence textiles, while Lucknow is emerging as a centre for advanced materials and missile systems, including BrahMos missiles.
