Delhi Government Will Allow BS-VI, CNG, and Electric Vehicles On-Road Only from November 1 ,2025

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that starting November 1, 2025, only BS-VI, CNG, or electric commercial vehicles will be allowed to enter the city. This is a key part of the Delhi government’s new Air Pollution Mitigation Plan 2025. 

“Any vehicle that comes to Delhi will have to meet these clean fuel standards,” said the Chief Minister during a press conference. This rule aims to reduce harmful emissions caused by old and polluting vehicles. 

Artificial Rain to Reduce Pollution 

In a bold new move, the Delhi government is planning to bring artificial rain through cloud seeding technology. This will be the first time Delhi experiences artificial rain. 

The government is working closely with IIT Kanpur, which will help carry out the cloud seeding as a pilot project. More partnerships with scientific organisations are expected soon to support pollution control efforts. 

Anti-Smog Guns and Mist Sprayers for Dust 

To tackle dust pollution, the government will install mist sprayers in areas that are known pollution hotspots. In addition, it will be mandatory for all commercial high-rise buildings over 3,000 square metres, like malls and hotels, to install anti-smog guns. 

This step is expected to reduce dust in the air and improve breathing conditions for residents. 

ANPR Cameras to Catch Polluting Vehicles 

The Delhi government will also use technology to track old, polluting vehicles. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras will be installed at all entry points into the city and petrol pumps. These cameras will identify end-of-life vehicles and help stop them from entering Delhi. 

“We will be able to trace such vehicles quickly and stop them from spreading pollution,” the CM said. 

70 Lakh Trees to Be Planted 

To increase Delhi’s green cover, the government will launch a tree plantation campaign named “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” starting June 5, on World Environment Day. The goal is to plant 70 lakh saplings across the city this year.
